Whereas the Dec. 9 program was on the mellower side of things (and newer), this week ended up ended up all over the map with a lean to "out there" pieces. In addition, I actually played some fairly old stuff e.g. Archie Shepp's version of Coltrane's "Naima", which was recorded in 1964. Fave track this week: Matthew Shipp's cover of "Summertime", with strings. As I said on air, take that, Great American Songbook!
Next show: Being two days before Christmas, I guess this will be the BTT Christmas episode. With that in mind, I may play a couple of Xmas-related items. Tune in on Monday, December 23, from 10-11 am MT, at 90.9 FM or cjsw.com
Thanks!
Andrew
PS Shepp and Shipp!
