A solid show. Two things to note:
*The first song in the program was a version of “Seven for Lee” by Elton Dean & The Wrong Object, Elton Dean being the author of the tune. I played a version of the track by the Alex Maguire Sextet on the Feb. 17 show but I mistakenly called it “Song for Lee”, which is actually the name of a song by Paul Butterfield. I played the Elton Dean version as a way of making up for the title mess-up.
*Probably my favourite two tunes were the variations on Joe Henderson’s “Black narcissus”. These were a live version by Henderson and group recorded in France in 1978 and a 2020 re-warp by Jeff Parker called “Gnarciss”. Both good stuff.
Thanks.
