As is usually the case, I planned to present a show that featured a mix of old and new material. However, I left the “old” stuff at home accidentally so, I figured, why not, lets do an “all-new” BTT episode. And that’s what we had. Nine new releases and one re-release, all over the musical map. There was weirdo jazz-rock (“Pine trees of Tennessee” by Skullcap), NOLA brass band (“North Philly’s finest” by Heavyweights Brass Band), 70s jazz-rock-funk (“Slop jar” by Charles Kynard), a tap piece (“Ko-ko” by the DIVA Jazz Orchestra), Miles Davis done by Indian flute and acoustic guitar (“All blues” by Nolasia), and jazz grunge (or grunge jazz?) (“Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town” by Chris Smith). You can listen to all of this fine music at
shorturl.at/KesUt.
The next show (for me - more on this below) will be Monday, July 21, from 10 to 11 am MT, at
cjsw.com or 90.9 FM. It will be good. Join me if you can.
OK, here’s the news. The July 21 program will be my last BTT episode for the next four weeks. I’m going on a long vacation. I’ll be back for the August 25 show. In the meantime, the four programs in between will have guest hosts. I’m not yet sure who will be hosting BTT while I am away (it’ll probably be a few folks) but I’ll post about this when I know.
Thanks.
Andrew
