Definitely a lean to the "out there"/experimental side of things on the Aug. 22 episode of Breaking The Tethers. Good stuff all around, I thought. Perhaps my favourite for this week was "The omen" by Bobby Hutcherson, a spooky piece from his 1966 album Happenings (one two records he released for Blue Note that year). Hutcherson passed away on Aug. 15 so I figured a tune played in his honor would be appropriate. On that note, I noticed that four of the nine performers on today's show have died; anything to that? Probably not...
