The main item on this week’s show was an interview with Ed Durocher, bandleader of the Winnipeg band Apollo Suns. The Suns were supposed to be playing live on Breaking The Tethers on Monday, July 13 but COVID-19 forced a massive change of plans for the band. Ed and I figured it would be a good opportunity to talk about what working musicians are doing during these times, specifically, of course, Apollo Suns. Many thanks to Ed for the call. Hopefully, we’ll hear Apollo Suns live on BTT sometime next year.

Now to the music played. Lots of good stuff, including the new Apollo Suns single, “So long Ethan”, a rocking tune. Other favourites included Ahmad Jamal’s piano trio version of Oliver Nelson’s classic, “Stolen moments”, “Tolli’s dance” by Billy Hart, and two versions of “People make the world go round” by Ramon Morris and Milt Jackson.

Join me for the next episode of Breaking The Tethers, on Monday, July 13, 10-11 am MT, 90.9 FM or  cjsw.com.  Lots of great music to be played.

Thanks.

Andrew
