July 5, 2021

This week's episode had a bit of lean to the avant. Beyond that, it was the usual mix of new and old stuff, shorter and longer. Fave tracks:

"There are other worlds" by Sun Ra. Any Sun Ra is good Sun Ra! It's always a good show when it starts with a track from the Man from Saturn.

"Something for Ndugu". This is a drum solo by Willie Jones III in honour of the late Leon Ndugu Chancelor. I've found that drum solos fit pretty nicely into BTT shows.

"Excursion" by Bennie Maupin, off his first solo album. A very spooky affair.

"Vermelho quente" of the 7th volume of the Jazz is Dead series. Always good stuff.

Listen to these and more here.

I might make next week's show an "all-new" program. Haven't done one of those for a while. Find out which route I take on Monday, July 12, from 10 to 11 am MT, cjsw.com or 90.9 FM.

Thanks!

Andrew
